BIOGRAPHY
Phil Gleason was born in Austin, Minnesota and pursued a B.A. in Communications from the University of Minnesota.  After working in the business and insurance industry for several years, Phil realized that his interest in the arts could not be forgotten.  In 2001, Phil returned to the University of Minnesota where he earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Sculpture, and later received his Master of Fine Arts in Sculpture from Florida State University in 2008.  He creates kinetic works which challenge the viewer’s sense of reality.  Phil’s sculptures challenge the limits of gravity, physics, and the laws of nature.

Phil currently works as the Studio Manager at the Florida State University Master Craftsman Studio, and as an adjunct professor in the FSU sculpture department.  As a sculptor, he works on illusions with lights, mirrors, and magnets which create skewed perceptions, levitations, and the illusion of infinity.  Phil's artwork has been on display in New Orleans, Minneapolis, Maryland, Austin, TX, and throughout Florida.  He is working to procure national/international shows, installations, and publications.
